Originally built around 1760-70 the Trumpets Hill smock mill was worked continuously until 1895 but fell into disrepair and was demolished on 4th October 1950 (not 1920 as noted under the photo)because it had become unsafe. The occasion was recorded in The Surrey Mirror and on Pathe Newsreel.
